Meet Jose:
Jose C. Nunez, Senior Academic Advisor for Brandman University, part of the Chapman University system, Modesto Campus. Adjunct ECD Professor, Brandman University, Modesto Junior College and Las Positas College.
Currently Jose is a Board Member for the Stanislaus Association for the Education of Young Children (SAEYC), Chair for the Modesto Junior College (MJC) Child Development Advisory Committee and is a Selection Committee Member for the MJC’s California Community College Early Childhood Mentor Program.
Jose received his Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development from San Francisco State University in May, 1990. Afterwards he began his 15 year early childhood career working for Hayward Unified School District’s (HUSD) Child Development Programs. Two years as a Latchkey Teacher at Burbank Elementary School, 12 years as a Preschool Teacher at Helen Turner’s Children’s Center and 1 year as the Co-Coordinator of the HUSD Latchkey Program. During his time with HUSD he became a Mentor Preschool Teacher for the California Community College Mentor Program, conducted workshops/in-service trainings for Alameda County First Five Every Child Counts Enhanced Mentor Program, presented at the 1999 National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) Annual National Conference and obtained his Master’s Degree in Education from National University.
Since that time Mr. Nunez has been a Temporary Full Time Faculty at Modesto Junior College (MJC), a High School ROP Instructor teaching Elementary Education for Modesto City Schools (MCS) School to Career Center, has taught parenting classes for MCS and MJC’s College Bound Teen Parent Program, trained in the Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC) Modules, Academies and is teaching Infant/Toddler classes at the University and Community College level. In his current position at Brandman University, Mr. Nunez has the daily opportunity to connect, collaborate and communicate to adult learners the value of higher education.
